A friendly field guide for island life
Blathadex is a companion guide for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, designed to help players track, discover, and plan around the creatures, flowers, villagers, and items available on their island.
Blathadex is live at blathadex.com
It brings everything together in one calm, approachable interface—making it easier to know what’s available, when to find it, and what you’ve already collected.
What Blathadex does
Blathadex acts as a living reference for island life.
Players can browse creatures, flowers, gyroids, villagers, and items, mark entries as collected, and quickly see when and where things appear throughout the year.
Rather than replacing in-game discovery, Blathadex supports it—helping players plan sessions, set goals, and avoid missing seasonal content.
Designed for clarity and calm
Blathadex was designed to feel lightweight and friendly, matching the tone of the game itself.
- Clean, readable layouts
- Soft colors and simple iconography
- Touch-friendly navigation
- Clear visual indicators for availability and progress
The goal was to make information easy to scan without overwhelming the player.

Built as a learning project
Blathadex was created as a collaborative design and development project during the early days of the pandemic.
It served as an opportunity to explore:
- Interface design for large datasets
- Visual hierarchy and information density
- Client-side performance and responsiveness
- Building friendly, non-commercial tools for fan communities
The project is open source and continues to be a meaningful snapshot of Sparkstone’s early product thinking.
From Sparkstone
Blathadex was built by Sparkstone as an early example of our approach to product design: thoughtful interfaces, respectful use of data, and tools that support people without demanding attention.
It reflects our belief that even playful tools deserve care and craft.
